History

  • Shirdi Sai Baba Temple was formed by Sri Gajanana Seva Mandali in 1998. It is situated in HMT Layout, R T Nagar occupied on a 240X260 sqft area. The history of evolution goes as below.

  • In olden days people were worshiping Lord Munishwara in this same place, thereafter till today this place retained that same holiness. In 1976 HMT had allocated the residential land to their employees (almost 900 houses), in this premises a 240 X 260 land was unused because it was lying below the High Tension Cable line, and hence not suitable for construction of houses as per BDA rules. In 1983, the devotees in and around the HMTlayout & surrounding area proposed to construct a temple.

  • With the patronage of Ex-Minister Dr. Jeevaraj Alva and Shri. R. Krishnappa (then Area Corporator in 1993), the devotees could pursue and get the permission of BDA to construct a temple. (BDA site No. CA#3, 240X260 Sq.ft). Initially it was started with Lord Shiva’s Temple only. On 2nd May, 1993, the foundation work for the construction of the 2nd Pravachna Mandira (Mini Hall) was started in the presence of Dr. Jeevaraj Alva. The sole reason for constructing the Pravachana mandira was to serve public. In 1998, with the guidance and support of Shri. R. Krishnappa ( A Minister in Late. Shri. J.H. Patel’s Ministry) the Gajanana Seva Mandali Trust got registered. In the year 2000, this Pravachana Mandapa was  officially inaugurated.

  • Today this Pravachana Mandapa has become an important place for conducting Free Mass marriages, Free Meals scheme, Free Medical campaigns, Daily Bhajans & so on.

  • In the year 2005, worship of Sri Shirdi Sai Baba with an idol was started officially.

  • On Dec 25th 2010, on the eve of R.Krishnappa's Birthday "Thursday Free Meals Scheme" was stared. Gradually more devotees started visiting the temple. Now more than 15,000 people were served on every Thursday under free meals scheme at noon and evening.

  • After the Shirdi Sai Mandira formation, every year 2 festivals are celebrated in a grand manner. One is the annual day function on Sri Rama Navami considered to be the birth day of Sri Shirdia Sai Baba. The second one is Gurupoornima.

  • Sri Shirdi Sai Mandira has got complete spiritual atmosphere surrounded by Lord Shiva & Parvathi, Ganesha and Subramanya Temple. It is needless to emphasize that a visit to this temple brings peace, harmony and oneness to any restless mind. Devotees who get abundant blessings of Sai Baba, throng this temple on Thursday, an auspicious day of Baba.
